I created my travel capsule wardrobe (Thanks to Jen from Real Life on Purpose), purchased my new walking shoes, dusted off my passport. Once everything was all said and done, I hadn’t even filled up half of my suitecase. This was the moment that made me stop. What should I do for a carry on? I only needed a personal item for the flight over, and I needed a light, easy to carry item to bring in my checked suitecase.
The foldable travel bag was my answer. Most of them fold to 11″ by 8″ or less making them easy to store, carry, and use to carry souvenirs or dirty laundry home. This is the bag I have, and I am liking it so far. I chose it because of affordability, and it matches my suitecase. My bag is durable but light. It folds up flat and thin. I can carry it with me in a suitecase and use it to take souvenirs on my way home. There is a pocket that slips over the handles of a suitecase which I love. The full dimensions of the bag are 12.25″ wide x 12″ high x 7.5″ deep.
Why I take mine with me every time I travel
Really, no matter if you pack light or heavy, a carry on is a vital piece for your travels. It goes on the plane with you and can carry necessities or souvenirs. Sometimes it is your actual luggage. Other times, it is just extra space. But, the most important thing about carry-ons is there is no weight limit. Just a size limit. That size limit can free you up when trying to transport heavier items. If you are a big shopper, this bag is especially valuable for bringing back souvenirs or special purchases.
This is the bag I have. I take it with me every time I fly. I usually pack it in my suitecase on the journey there. Then, even if my suitecase is full, I can have extra space to bring souvenirs and gifts back with me. It is also great if my suitecase is over the weight limit. I can unfold the carry on, move some of my heavier items into it, and be on my way. But, if I don’t need it, it takes up very little space and an almost imperceptible amount of weight.
